Access Workshops for Beginners and Experts

Using our 15+ years experience teaching and developing in Access, we have created our own course curriculum.  The course material is
written for Access 2010 with notes for Access 2007 so they are relevant to both versions. You can choose from one of the classes listed
below or we can customize a class to specifically fit your business needs.

The cost for all 7 hour courses is $175 per course.  Course materials will be available to download for free.  
If you want a printed and bound copy we will mail you one for $30.
MS-Access Introduction is offered free of charge.

    MS-Access Introduction – Using MS-Access to Meet Business Needs
    2.5 hours - OFFERED FREE
    If you have ever wondered how MS-Access could help you with your business or how the database you have can be
    improved or what MS-Access does for that matter, this course is for you.  This is a no-nonsense introduction to how
    MS-Access and databases work and how you can use it to increase your productivity.  Topics discussed include tasks
    where MS-Access is tremendously useful, the differences between MS-Access and MS-Excel, the differences between
    MS-Access and other database programs and a basic overview of how to use MS-Access with real-world examples.  
    Ample time is reserved for Questions and Answers. Ask your questions in a non-threatening environment:  No
    question is too big or small!

    MS-Access Level I - Introduction to Database Design Using MS-Access
    7  hours
    If you need to know how to create a database or learn how to get started using and modifying your existing database,
    this course is for you.  It focuses not only on the basics of MS-Access, but also on database design theory.  This
    hands-on workshop guides you through the exact steps needed to create a database.  Time is reserved for
    assistance on your specific needs and projects.   You are introduced to the features of MS-Access so that you
    can start to feel comfortable in the program. Tasks include setting up a new database, creating and working with
    tables, creating relationships between tables, setting field properties, finding and filtering records and sorting
    records.  You will also learn how to create simple queries and modify query results using Design View and how to
    create basic Queries, Forms and Reports using the Wizards.

    MS-Access Level II – Essential MS-Access Database Design Skills
    7 hours
    If you already have a general understanding of how MS-Access and databases work and want to hone your skills, this
    course is for you.  It is a natural progression from Level I as it builds on the skills learned in that course.  This course
    focuses on designing Queries, Forms and Reports.  Query tasks include using And/Or, using comparison operators,
    creating a calculated field, using multiple tables in a query, creating action queries and using advanced query wizards.
    Form and Report tasks include using the new features in 2007/2010 to quickly create forms and reports, using the
    Design View editing tools and advanced design features.  Advanced Form features include how to create Combo
    boxes; Option Groups and Check Boxes.  Advanced Report features include how to add groupings, calculations, sub
    totals, and grand totals.  With the information from Level I and Level II at your fingertips you will feel confident in
    designing and modifying your MS-Access database.

    MS-Access Level III - Program Development Using MS-Access
    7 hours
    If you want to learn how to take your database “to the next level” and make it into a program where other people can use
    it without knowing MS-Access or you just want to make your database easier to use for yourself, this course is for you.   
    This course introduces more advanced features including using sub forms, creating form letters, integrating MS-
    Access with Excel, Word and other databases, creating and modifying switchboards, importing and indexing.
    This course also includes a comprehensive introduction to Macros, a unique method for using Visual Basic actions,
    without being a programmer.  Macro tasks include creating, saving, and running macros; assigning actions and
    incorporating conditions. Time is reserved for assistance on your specific needs and projects as well.

    Advanced MS-Access Queries – Complex Queries and Calculations with MS-Access
    7 hours
    If you are using Access to write queries and want to gain more professional skills, this course is for you.  This is a fast-
    paced, information-packed course for the more knowledgeable Access user.  Tasks include techniques for basing one
    query upon another, effective use of Joins, Crosstab Queries, and queries for Combo Boxes.  This course also
    includes a comprehensive look at using Functions for calculations in queries.  The functions discussed include date
    functions (such as DateDiff), text functions (such as the functions needed split text into separate columns) and the IIF
    function which allows management in data based on conditions.  Examples from your work can be integrated into the
    class and ample time is reserved for assistance on your specific needs.

    Advanced MS-Access Reports – Custom Report Writing with MS-Access
    7 Hours
    If you are using Access to write reports and want to gain more knowledge, this course is for you. This is a fast-paced,
    information-packed course for the more knowledgeable Access user.   Tasks include creating a custom form for
    entering query criteria for a report, printing criteria on a report, and using sub-reports, conditional formatting, changing
    the sort order of a report on the fly, creating grouping levels and adding graphics to a report. This course also shows
    you how to use Domain Functions so that data from unrelated sources can be incorporated on the same report. This
    course assumes that you use Access on a regular basis.  Examples from your work can be integrated into the class
    and ample time is reserved for assistance on your specific needs.

    Advanced MS-Access Macros – Program Development Using MS-Access Macros
    7 Hours
    If you are using Macros in your program and want a comprehensive look at what MS-Access Macros have to offer, this
    course is for you.  This is a fast-paced, information-packed course for the more knowledgeable Access user.  It
    establishes a thorough understanding of Macros, the actions they have to offer and how Macros relate to Visual Basic.
    Common and advanced uses for macros are discussed, such as creating macro groups for better organization, using
    the SetValue macro to set properties on the fly, creating a splash screen, using macros with actions queries to
    automate processes, sending custom emails and converting macros into visual basic code.  This course assumes
    that you use Access on a regular basis.  Examples from your work can be integrated into the class and ample time is
    reserved for assistance on your specific needs

    Advanced MS-Access Security – MS-Access Features for Security and Customization
    7 hours
    If you would like to add user-level security to your database and use it for  security but also to customize the look and
    feel of your program for each user, this course is for you. This is a fast-paced, information-packed course for the more
    knowledgeable Access user.  Learn how to set up User/Group Level security for your MS Access .mdb databases, add
    a user login for your .accdb databases, use Trusted Center, create/modify user names and passwords, use the MS
    Access Workgroup Administrator, convert your database to an .mde file for protected distribution, implement security on
    a network, work with the .MDW security file, using security to customize your database’s look and feel and create
    custom letterhead for each user.   This course assumes that you use Access on a regular basis.  Examples from your
    work can be integrated into the class and ample time is reserved for assistance on your specific needs.
